Call for Volunteers: Recruiting for new Book Reviews Editor...

Communications in Information Literacy (CIL) is recruiting for a brand-new editorial position, that of Book Reviews Editor, with the first contributed work to appear in Volume 9, Spring 2015. The Book Reviews Editor will be responsible for working with publishers to secure books to review, matching and distributing those books to reviewers, and editing and readying the final work for publication as a highlighted section of CIL. The book review section will be forwarded for copyediting and layouts, and then reviewed by the Books Review Editor prior to final publication. We anticipate between 2 and 4 books being reviewed for each installment of the section, to be published twice a year.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. CIL is asking for a commitment of at least two years to fully establish this new section. The Book Reviews Editor will be expected to participate in editorial decisions for the journal, and be a part of regular communications with the rest of the editorial team. The right candidate will be able to make contacts with editors in library publishing quickly and professionally, secure topically-relevant review copies, recruit and coordinate a pool of reviewers, and assemble a high-quality, informative book review section for CIL's readership. This individual will be given considerable latitude in developing policies and procedures for this new section of CIL.

For over seven years, Communications in Information Literacy has been an independent, professional, refereed electronic journal dedicated to advancing knowledge, theory, and research in information literacy. CIL is also committed to the principles of open access for academic research. CIL is indexed by multiple services, including EBSCO and Elsevier, and has been recognized by the ACRL for its contributions.

The editors wish to recruit for this position before July 1, 2014. If you are interested, please forward a copy of your curriculum vitae, along with a brief statement about your interest in the position and an example of your professional writing, to editors@comminfolit.org. We appreciate your interest!
